Tulips For My Father - Memorial Day 2011

These tulips were a gift, as bulbs, from a group of dear friends. They gave them to me when my father passed away in the autumn of 2007, with a note that read, "For you to plant for your dad. When spring comes, they will bloom for him. For you." One of the sweetest gifts I have ever received. And for the past four years they have come through in flying, glorious colors. Big smile every time I see one poke its pointed little head through the dirt. I whisper "hi dad" every time I walk by. Seattle spring has finally arrived, albeit a late bloomer this year. Can always count on my father. Always could.

Semper Fi, Dad. Always faithful.
